Introduction
LGBTQI+ students in higher education continue to face discrimination, exclusion & mental health challenges that significantly impact their academic success & well-being.
The EU LGBTQI+ Survey III (FRA, 2024) reports that over 50% of LGBTQI+ individuals experience harassment, often within university settings that lack adequate support systems, inclusive policies & safe spaces.
Many HEIs across Europe still do not have concrete mechanisms to ensure the protection, wellbeing & full participation of LGBTQI+ students, leading to higher dropout rates, social isolation & limited access to academic opportunities.
PRISM+ responds to these challenges by equipping HEIs with tools & policies that foster inclusive, accessible & digitally connected learning environments where LGBTQI+ students can thrive.

Innovation Approach
Originality
The project introduces an innovative focus on intersectionality within LGBTQI+ students in higher education, combining digital support tools and policy-driven approaches, an area that remains underexplored in existing EU initiatives.
Collaboration
The project fosters strong interdisciplinary cooperation between higher education institutions, NGOs, training providers, and technology partners, ensuring a holistic approach that bridges research, education, community support, and policy-making.
Research-Driven Innovation
The project is based on real-time data collection and analysis of LGBTQI+ student experiences, ensuring that all developed tools, including the Intersect+ App and policy briefs, are evidence-based and directly relevant to users’ needs.
Digital Skills
The material developed will be available on the partner's websites and on the EPALE website so that it can be accessible to all and can accompany trainings, activities and campaings.
Digital Transformation
The development of the Intersect+ App provides a scalable, user-centered digital solution offering accessible resources, support services, and safe interaction spaces for LGBTQI+ students across Europe.
Inclusivity
All project outputs will follow accessibility-by-design principles, including user-friendly language, sign language, inclusive content formats, and digital accessibility standards to ensure equal access for diverse user groups.
